• Resumen

  El 12 de octubre es día de fiesta nacional de los españoles. Invención gestada a comienzos del siglo XX, la fecha reúne referencias culturales y geográficas externas poco controvertidas para el imaginario nacionalista español. La celebración fue un instrumento diplomático del estado español para diferentes regímenes y contextos políticos del siglo XX. El día, también conmemorado en América Latina desde la Primera Guerra Mundial, reforzó el carácter transnacional del festejo y activó el nacionalismo de españoles emigrados. El análisis se detiene en el ritual de las celebraciones en Buenos Aires. Se muestra cómo su despliegue, por un lado, incluyó al poder y a sectores sociales de origen migratorio. Y, por otro, cómo sirvió para regenerar el hispanismo en el nacionalismo argentino en los años 60 del siglo XX, especialmente durante los gobiernos de la Unión Cívica Radical.

• Abstract

  12th October is the Spanish national holiday. Invention developed at the beginning of the 20th century, the date brings together external cultural and geographical references little controversial regarding Spanish nationalist imagery. The celebration was a diplomatic instrument of the Spanish State for 20th century different political regimes and contexts. The date, also commemorated in Latin America from the World War I, reinforced the transnational character of the celebration and activated the Spanish émigré's nationalism. The analysis focuses on the ritual of celebrations in Buenos Aires. On the one hand, it shows how their deployment included power and social sectors of migratory origin; on the other hand, how they served to regenerate the Hispanic heritage in Argentine nationalism in the sixties of the 20th century, especially during the governments of the Unión Cívica Radical.
