• Resumen

  Este trabajo reflexiona acerca de la manera de organizar una investigación sobre el norte mexicano entre los siglos XVIII y XX. A partir de una autocrítica en relación con trabajos previos, el autor propone como hilo conductor la conexión entre el centro y las provincias septentrionales. Formula también una periodización y una caracterización de las peculiaridades del norte, de la conexión con el centro, y del centro, es decir, la sede del Estado novohispano y mexicano, la ciudad de México.

• Abstract

  This article aims to reflect on the challenges of how to research the north of Mexico, during the Eighteenth and Twentieth centuries. Based on a critic of the author’s own academic production, his intend is to use as a key argument the link between the center and the northern Mexican provinces. He also formulates a chronology as well as a characterization, on the peculiarities of the north, on its connection with the center of Mexico, and on the center itself, namely Mexico City, the headquarters of the colonial and the national state.
